Kathmandu, the largest city of Nepal is the political, commercial and cultural hub of Nepal which is the first stop for majority of tourists visiting Nepal. The valley was a big lake once upon a time and is believed to have created by the divine sword of the Buddhist deity Manjushree which is situated at an altitude of 1335 meters above sea level. The valley is full of medieval towns, age old temples and terraced fields that showcase the history, tradition and lifestyle of the people. In the late 18th century, following the foundation of modern Nepal that we have today, Kathmandu was made the capital of the country.
The valley contains three fabled cities - Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur which were separate kingdoms and ruled by different kings for many centuries. The valley is surrounded by green hills above which tower mighty Himalayan peaks. Over the time, a refined urban civilization emerged, built on a unique synthesis of Hinduism and Buddhism.

Day 01Kathmandu/ Arrival in Kathmandu airport (1335 m)The tour guide himself or our airport representative holding AUTHENTIC ADVENTURES sign-board and group name-list will greet you at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu and transfer you to the Hotel on our private vehicle which takes about 20 minutes from airport.
Day 02Kathmandu sightseeing - Kathmandu Durbar Square & Monkey’s Temple We will explore the ancient city of Kathmandu. We first visit Kathmandu Durbar Square and Museum. We will visit old palaces, beautiful temples and have an audience with the Living Goddess “Kumari.” After exploring the historical, religious and cultural center on Kathmandu we will take short drive of about 20 minutes to the Swoyambhunath Temple, which is popularly known as Monkey’s Temple as many hundreds of monkeys hang around the temple and amuse the visitors. Monkey’s Temple is situated atop a hill overlooking the Kathmandu city and in a clear day, we may also view the Himalayas.
Day 03Sightseeing of medieval Newari towns of Patan, Khokana & Bungmati The second day of Kathmandu Valley sightseeing, we will explore the medieval town of Patan, its people and their art, culture, tradition and lifestyle. Observing beautifully decorated age old temples and monasteries, we may also have a chance to have a personal audience with the Patan Kumari ( Living Goddess). We will then drive to countryside villages of Khokana and Bungmati and enjoy the isolated local villages rich in its history, culture, tradition and farming, which are situated in the suburb of the Valley in about half an hour’s drive.
Day 04Walking tour to Ason, Bhaktapur Durbar Square & Nagarkot (2195 m) We will take a nice walking tour to the oldest part of Kathmandu City – Ason Chowk and surrounding areas, which used to be the center for business trades, cultural festivities and many other historical activities. We will observe the daily lives of the locals and explore traditional market. We will pass through a few interesting temples and stupas along the way. Later, we drive to another medieval town of Bhaktapur and observe its charming beauty, art and culture of its people. We will visit interesting squares and mesmerize ourselves with the medieval feeling and witness the age old culture, tradition and lifestyles still in practice. We then take on a scenic drive to the hill resort of Nagarkot and get some time to relax and enjoy the magnificent Himalayan views. Nagarkot is famous for its Sunset and Sunrise views.
Day 05Sightseeing of holy and historical sites of Changu Narayan, Pashupatinath Temple & Boudhnath Stupa We wake up early to enjoy the amazing Sunrise. After breakfast, we will drive to historic temple of Changu Narayan which is recorded as the oldest temple of Kathmandu valley with the 4th century- stone inscription from the Lichhavi era. We enjoy the countryside of the Kathmandu Valley and observe beautifully terraced green fields and locals working in their fields. We then drive to the most famous and the biggest Hindu Temple in Nepal – The Pashupatinath Temple. This Shiva Temple is not only famous in Nepal, but into the Asian subcontinent and many thousands of Hindu devotees visit the temple to worship Lord Shiva and famous Shiva Lingam. Non Hindus are restricted to enter into the temple premises but we may have a great look at the temple from the terrace just across the Holy river of Bagmati. We also get to meet interesting Sadhus and see the Hindu funeral. Boudhnath stupa is the biggest Stupa of Nepal which is believed to be built in 5th century with a Kasyapa Buddha bone buried in it. Walking around the Stupa clock-wise and turning the prayer wheels around it add merit to good Karma and bring good luck and prosperity. We will also visit a few colorful Buddhist monasteries around the Stupa. Later in the evening, we take on shopping excursion in many colorful shops in and around Thamel before going for a wonderful farewell dinner at one of the authentic Nepalese restaurants in Kathmandu with its famous cultural and musical show.
Day 06Departure & Farewell – Relaxed day for shopping and easy stroll The last day of the trip – we keep it very relaxed and only take easy stroll around the buzzing streets of Thamel. After Lunch, we need to proceed to the airport at around 12:30 for farewell.
