Annapurna Region is situated in the mid-north of Nepal and probably the most sought after regions for trekking in Nepal. This region offers varieties of treks from 3 days short trek to Poon Hill to a month long Classic Annapurna Circuit over Thorang La (5416 m/ 17764 ft) with Tilicho Lake and Annapurna Sanctury. Having the seventh and the tenth highest mountain in the world in its vicinity, the region is dramatically decorated with prettiest mountains, beautiful flora and fauna, incredible landscape and diverse culture, religion, tradition and lifestyle of the local people. The treks follow the beautiful river valleys of Marshyangdi and Kaligandaki rivers. Annapurna region reveals itself through lowland rice paddies to isolated traditional villages, subtropical scenery to Tibetan influenced valleys and over one of the highest passes in the world. With assortment of scenery, unblemished mountain views, traditional villages and age old monasteries, alpine meadows and desert-like plateau, tranquil lakes and religious temples, Annapurna region provides an interesting mixture of Nepalese, Tibetan and Trans-Himalayan culture and lifestyle.
Most of the Annapurna Region trek starts and ends in the lake city of Pokhara. This region has lately seen many road expansions. However, the dirt roads aren’t quite busy and can be avoided at many places with little interesting detours through hidden valleys and villages. The scenery is still magnificent, trails often rugged and people always smiling. The region is well connected with road and air-strips hence helping in shortening the trip if needed.
